I promise, firefox is so good - the extensions are incredible look - I can use lightbeam to see what sites I use and how they connect to other sites (bottom right should give you an idea how much time I spend on tumblr)
or I can look at ublock origin and see that it’s blocked over 2 million requests since I installed it or I can run the facebook container extension and stop facebook from tracking me and you know what I bet you can do a lot of that on chrome too but you’re doing that while chrome itself is tracking you and gobbling up your activity for google and
firefox is so fuckin great and it’s such a great ambassador for other open source projects please be a big old fuckin nerd with me and use firefox and run a bunch of funky extensions and customize the fuck out of your web experience.

I don’t see my favorite which was an earl grey tea latte aka London fog. It’s 3 pumps vanilla with 2 earl grey teabags with ½ water then the other half is 2% milk for a grande. It tastes better with soy milk and an extra shot of sugar.
i tried searching your blog and found no answer, but as tumblr’s search function is terrible i’m sorry if you’ve answered this before. i keep getting recommended those “bearded dragon pimple popping” videos and i’m curious, how horrible is that for the animal? i kind of just assume that any exotics being showcased on major platforms with millions of views are harmful at this point.
I was not aware of these videos and was dismayed to see that more than a few exist. At best this is a case of people not understanding the normal physiologic processes of their pets and attempting to fix a problem that isn’t one. Some of the videos clearly show the animal is uncomfortable and there is damage being done.
First, I would advise not seeking out these videos or any others showing animals not being treated humanely. Any kind of engagement whether positive or negative will be seen by the content creators and the algorithms as “good” and will drive more of these. Ignore them and don’t engage at all, better yet block creators that produce this kind of content.
Both male (top photo) and female (bottom photo) bearded dragons have femoral pores on the underside of their thighs.
The pores of males are much larger than those of females and the presence of these large pores is one way to sex them. These pores are not like those on our faces that can get clogged with sebum and produce pimples. They are glands that produce a waxy substance that contains pheromones that the beardies use to mark their territory. These pores always have this wax in them, it belongs there and is a normal and necessary part of their anatomy.
Sometimes this wax can extrude out of the pores and get pretty long. In the wild beardies will rub these waxy plugs on rocks or wood to mark territory and this helps express the pores.
The photo above shows excessive amounts of waxy material extruding from the pores. These are not infected, impacted, or diseased. This is from a combination of not having adequate surfaces in the enclosure to rub the wax on and dislodge it and poor nutrition.
Very rarely these pores can get infected and will need to be expressed and an antibiotic will be given. This is painful and in the clinic we do this under anesthesia. Squeezing and expressing the pores can actually damage the glands and create infections and other problems and should not be done.
As per most problems in reptiles most issues can be prevented with proper husbandry. Beardies need wood or rocks in their enclosure that they can rub the pores on to help express them and keep them healthy. Poor diets can result in vitamin A deficiencies which can cause the pores to become clogged and have other issues. It is also important to keep them at the proper temperatures and provide UVA/UVB lights so that their metabolisms work like they are supposed to. It is uncommon for bearded dragons that are kept properly to have any health issues.

This reminds me of one of the first clients I worked with as an art therapy intern. Staff were concerned that this 10-year-old boy might be “preoccupied with death” or even had suicidal ideation because he kept drawing pictures of “death-related imagery”.
However, since this boy had ADHD, was on the autism spectrum, and was a recent immigrant who didn’t speak English well, staff couldn’t get him to explain to them what his drawings were about.
I asked to see some of his artwork and immediately realized that the “death-related imagery” that this kid was drawing was actually fanart of Sans, from Undertale.
I remember telling the staff that, while I didn’t expect this to be an easy case, I had a feeling that they needn’t worry about this kid quite so much anymore.
Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.

Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer,possibly better than After Effects
Audacity to replace Audition (I also received a free version of Pro Tools with my Scarlett Solo audio interface)
If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

- Medibang Paint and Fire Alpaca for more cartoon style illustration
- Krita for painting
- Clip Studio Paint (not free, but often on sale and cheap even at full price) is better than PS for art and I’m about to cut adobe entirely. Even does some photo editing.
- Paint Tool SAI (again, not free but cheap) old but good, there’s a ton of hacked copies around too. Not hard to get for free.
- Open Tunez for animation.
I’m currently using Affinity Photo and it’s a great Photoshop alternative. One time fee only and it’s not really expensive, plus supports PSD formats. Free trial available too!
Davinci Resolve for video editing is amazing as well! :)
Another great art program to include in the list is the completely free, no download, browser recreation of photoshop, Photopea! It has the potential/customizability to be as robust as a full copy of photoshop while also being perfectly accessible to anyone looking to just do some quick edits with no strings attached.

Every time I have to send a fax to a doctor saying “hey this med needs a PA” I get violently angry.
Hint: if your PA gets denied call your insurance and ask for the credentials of the person who made that call. Usually they will approve it instead of admitting they hired some 18-year-old with no relevant training or experience to scan for buzz-words and just deny everything
